~ CLASSES FOR 18 MONTHS - 6 YEARS ~

Let’s Dance Together

18 months - 3 years | 60 minute class 

Let’s Dance Together is a parent participation toddler dance class that introduces toddlers to the world of dance. Through active play, exploration, and guided activities, your toddler will engage their imagination, improve body awareness, and build strength. The class introduces students to a structured environment, building socialization skills with instructors and peers, and promoting self-awareness, confidence and independence.

Baby Ballet

3 - 5 years (Two 2 year old spots) | 60 minute class 

This class helps students to develop grace, musicality, and elegant lines as they learn ballet technique and terminology. We draw from traditional and contemporary methodologies focusing on anatomically sound principals and the joy of moving. This class provides a strong foundation for continued training in ballet and other forms of dance.

Tiny Tap

3 - 5 years (Two 2 year old spots) | 60 minute class

Tap is a style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork and rhythms. Our tap classes stress the basics of tap while also teaching musicality and rhythm. 

Hip-Hoppers

3 - 5 years (Two 2 year old spots) | 60 minute class

Hip-Hoppers is a fast-moving class consisting of strengthening, cardio, and the latest dance moves. With the integration of R & B, street jazz, and different styles of hip hop, this class is a fun and energetic experience that all children love.

Million Dollar Babies

3 - 5 years (Two 2 year old spots) | 60 minute class

This class is filled with technique in jazz and tap that is specifically designed for this age group.  Students will enjoy this structured class that promotes proper technique, choreography, and social skills.

~ CLASSES FOR 6 to 9 YEARS ~

Ballet 1

6 - 7 years | 60 minute class

The goal of Ballet 1 is to impart the fundamentals of classical ballet . Classes will focus on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology and musicality. Students at the Ballet I level will practice at the barre and in center as well as learning choreography.

Hip-Hop

6 - 9 years | 60 minute class

This unique and exciting style of street dance is most commonly performed to hip-hop music. Hip-hop dance is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Through its three main styles of popping, locking, and breaking, hip-hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance. This style is more laid back and allows dancers to let loose and worry less about technique and more about expressing themselves through their movement and their music. With more upbeat music, hip-hop dance creates a different level of fun and creativity.

Jazz/Tap

6 - 9 years | 60 minute class

Tap is a style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork and rhythms. Our tap classes stress the basics of tap while also teaching musicality and rhythm.  Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms.

Musical Theatre

6 - 9 years | 60 minute class

A very fun class for the dancer who loves to be on stage. We use Broadway-themed songs along with plays and concepts as you see on Broadway or local theaters. Inspiration comes from plays such as West Side Story, Cats, Hair Spray, In the Heights, etc. Our Musical Theatre class is a fantastic way to feel like you are in the theater while learning how to sing and dance. Jazz technique, stylization, expression is also taught in this class.

Cheer

6 - 9 years | 60 minute class

 

This class teaches arm movements, jumps, chants, stunts and choreography. Cheer is great for building lasting friendships and learning how to work together as a team.  

Ballet 2

8 - 9 years | 60 minute class

This is an intermediate level class recommended for students 8-9 years of age. Dancers will build upon the fundamentals of ballet that includes terminology, positions and technique across the floor at a slightly more advanced level than Ballet 1 and at a quicker pace. We always teach individually to each student so all students in this age bracket are welcome.

~  TECHNIQUE CLASSES FOR 8 YEARS AND OLDER ~

Technique is a huge part of dancing. The top twenty dancers from the studio that attend the most technique classes will dance in either the opening or closing dance number. Register for any one of the four classes, pay for one half hour, and get access to all four. This is a bonus for you, show us how much you can improve by attending all four weekly. The top two Company Dancers that have the most technique classes in attendance will do solos for the recital.

 

Turns, Leaps & Jumps

8 years & older | 30 minute class

This class will help develop greater control, technical understanding and strength to not only help you execute more skills, but to also do them safely.  This instructional class is perfect for dancers who are preparing for dancers who simply want a few more tricks in their dance bags. 

 

~ CLASSES FOR 10 to 17 YEARS ~

Contemporary

10 - 17 years | 60 minute class

Contemporary dance techniques typically reflect the body’s natural alignment, so the style is accessible for dancers of any level, and beginners may learn by taking group contemporary dance classes or private lessons. Classes often focus on topics such as narration, self-expression, creative freedom, and the conveyance of emotion.

Ballet 3

10 - 17 years | 60 minute class

Ballet 3 is an intermediate level class that is for students with a solid technical foundation. Students will understand the structure of ballet, ballet terminology, and etiquette. We always teach individually to each student so all students in this age bracket are welcome.

 

 

~ ADULT CLASSES ~

Adult Hip-Hop

18 years & older | 60 minute class

This class will learn the foundations of Hip hop and its various dance styles. Learning how to groove and develop our own unique style along with integrating choreography in this fun, high energy class is open to all levels.

Adult Ballet

18 years & older | 60 minute class

Ballet is a beautiful, incredibly athletic art form that has been amazing audiences for centuries. It is a disciplined form of dance that strives for perfection while exuding elegance, grace and control. Ballet class is the study of body positions, awareness, and alignment. Our Adult Ballet class is designed to be inclusive for all dance enthusiasts and focuses on technical strength, coordination, and movement quality. A prior knowledge of ballet training and vocabulary is not required. Ballet is a beautiful, incredibly athletic art form that has been amazing audiences for centuries. It is a disciplined form of dance that strives for perfection while exuding elegance, grace and control. Ballet class is the study of body positions, awareness, and alignment. 

~ INVITATION ONLY CLASSES ~

Pre-Pointe/Pointe

10 years & older | 60 minute class

Pre-Pointe is a pointe preparation class for serious ballet students interested in dancing en pointe. This group is combined with the Pointe class and is encouraged to attend the Everything Ballet technique class to prepare more to be en pointe. Students must be invited to this class and once they are asked to start Pointe, will need to be fitted for shoes, no online ordering. Pointe is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. 

Company

10 years & older | 60 minute class

This is an advanced team also known as The Douglas Dolls. Dancers will learn all styles of dance with the exception of ballet. Dance Company will perform at different events within the community. Students will also be expected to do volunteer work and participate in extra fundraisers for performing costumes, competition fees and traveling expenses. Ballet and one technique class is also required.

~ CLASSES FOR 18 MONTHS - 6 YEARS ~

These classes are designed to support the physical, social, cognitive, and emotional growth of students, while providing an engaging learning environment for gymnasts of all skills levels. Whether your child is brand new to gymnastics, or has been practicing for years, our program will instill confidence, build strength, and develop a strong gymnastics foundation for your child. Tumble Bugs

18 months - 3 years | 60 minute class | 10:1 Ratio

This class is an amazing energy outlet, Tumble Bugs is a parent participation toddler gymnastics class that introduces toddlers to the world of gymnastics. Through active play, exploration, and guided activities, your toddler will engage their imagination, improve body awareness, and build strength. The class introduces students to a structured environment, building socialization skills with instructors and peers, and promoting self-awareness, confidence and independence.

Little Rhythmic Gymnastics

3 - 5 years (Two 2 year old spots) | 60 minute class |  5:1 Ratio

With the use of props such as a ball, hoop or ribbon, this class teaches students how to gracefully combine aspects of traditional gymnastics with dance, modern movement and music. It combines the beauty, artistry and grace of ballet with the strength and power of gymnastics.

Little Ninja Kidz & Ninja Kidz

3 - 5 years (Two 2 year old spots) and 6 - 13 years | 60 minute class |  5:1 Ratio

This popular class allows kids to develop balance, speed, agility, coordination, gross and fine motor development in a fun environment. The ninjas will learn the foundations of being a ninja warrior such as safety techniques, running, jumping, balance, increasing core strength, kicking, punching and basic gymnastics during this class.

Buckaroos - Level 1 & Level 2

2 – 3 years (Level 1) & 4 - 5 years (Level 2) | 60 minute class |  5:1 Ratio

A confidence and coordination building class, Buckaroos - Level 1 introduces and develops the basics of gymnastics in a structured environment. With a low 5-1 student-coach ratio, this 60 minute class is designed to support children that are new to a classroom environment or participating independently in activities for the first time. Students learn patience and control through structure and positive reinforcement and build confidence as they learn to master fun and age-appropriate gymnastics skills. Building off the fundamentals learned in Buckaroos - Level I, Buckaroos - Level 2 facilitates further skills development with a variety of engaging and imaginative activities. Students learn patience and control through structure and positive reinforcement, while also increasing self-regulation and responsibility through independent practice. With a low 5:1 student-coach ratio, coaches are able to spend time with each student as they continue to build strength, coordination, confidence and independence.

Kindergarten Gymnastics

5 - 6 years | 60 minute class | 8:1 Ratio

Kindergarten Gymnastics introduces and develops the basics of gymnastics in a structured, fun-filled, and active environment. This class is geared towards building independence and responsibility. With an 8-1 student to coach ratio, this class incorporates group activities, one-on-one instruction, and independent practice stations to increase coordination, strength, and flexibility. Students will develop self-regulation and build confidence as they master exciting, age-appropriate gymnastics skills.

 

~ CLASSES FOR 6 YEARS AND OLDER ~

Upon joining Jill’s Studio, a student is able to begin by enrolling in a Level 1 class for their age. Coaches will monitor student’s skill progression and we will notify you when your child is ready to advance levels. Level 1 classes are separated by age. Starting at Level 2, classes are separated only by skill level. No two students will progress at the same rate. We believe that children need to be allowed to achieve at a pace that is comfortable for them and encourage students to focus on their strengths and be proud of their accomplishments. Each level spans a wide range of skills and it is not uncommon for a student to spend multiple seasons in a particular class level before advancing.

Recreational classes are 60 minutes long and have an 8:1 student to coach ratio.

 

Acro

6 - 9 years | 60 minute class | 8:1 Ratio

Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills in this flexible Acro class! Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. You will be guided towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. Classes will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, and balance and contortion tricks, all each student's individual level of experience. And it's fun, too! 

Rhythmic Gymnastics

6 - 13 years | 60 minute class | 8:1 Ratio

With the use of props such as a ball, hoop or ribbon, this class teaches students how to gracefully combine aspects of traditional gymnastics with dance, modern movement and music. It combines the beauty, artistry and grace of ballet with the strength and power of gymnastics.

 

Recreational Gymnastics 1

6 - 8 years (Gym Stars) & 9 - 13 years (Twisters) | 60 minute class | 8:1 Ratio

Designed to accommodate the mental maturity and body coordination of children ages 6-8, Recreational Gymnastics 1 introduces and develops the basics of gymnastics in a structured environment. Coaches build students’ self-confidence with positive reinforcement and foster improved work ethic and increase critical thinking coach-guided skills.

 

Recreational Gymnastics 2

6 years & older | 60 minute class | 8:1 Ratio

Building on the foundations set in Level 1 classes, Recreational Gymnastics 2 provides more challenging lessons that begin to increase skill difficulty and student independence. Students learn patience and control with structure and positive reinforcement, while also increasing independence and self-regulation through extra tasks.

Tumbling - Level 1 & 2

6 years & older | 60 minute class | 8:1 Ratio

Level 1 - Introduction to tumbling! In this class, athletes will begin learning the basics to tumbling through drills and introductory tumbling skills. They will continue to build on those skills to further their tumbling capabilities. Perfect for beginners! Skills to be learned: Forward roll, backward roll, handstand, front limber, front walkover, back bend, backbend kickover, back walkover, headstands, cartwheel, single arm cartwheel, round off, opposite leg back walkover. Prerequisites:  no skills required

Level 2 - In this class, students will range from early stages of back handsprings up to single/double back handsprings. They will continue working towards the perfection of multiple back handsprings & powerful rebounds. Skills to be learned: Round off back handspring(s), standing back handspring(s), back walkover back handspring, front walkover/front handspring, toe-touch back handspring, cartwheel back handspring. Prerequisites (these skills should be of high quality and are required for placement in this class): forward roll, backward roll, handstand, back bend, back walkover, cartwheel, round off, front walkover.

 

~ INVITATION ONLY CLASSES ~

Elite Acro

Class will focus on more advanced acrobatic techniques all taught dependent on each student's individual level of experience. Work on advancing your skills even further in this flexible Acro class! Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. You will be guided towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration.

Prerequisites (these skills should be of high quality and are required for placement in this class): chin stands, elbow stands, balance and contortion tricks, forward roll, backward roll, handstand, back bend, back walkover, cartwheel, round off, front walkover.
